“I’m proud to work for a Trust whose vision is to ensure equality of opportunity for its pupils.”
I was born and raised in Cardiff and am proud to be Welsh. I went to school and Sixth Form College in Cardiff and am proud to be the first person in my family to go to university. I was fortunate to have a family who valued education and encouraged me all the way.
I worked in a variety of jobs whilst I was a student, including supermarkets, pubs, an exam board and a school office.
My first teaching job was in a middle school in Leek, North Staffordshire. I enjoyed teaching English, Maths and Science to my Year 5 class and teaching science to Years 6,7 and 8. I was ambitious and keen to move to a primary school, so I became KS2 and Science coordinator in a primary school in Tamworth. After a few years, I became deputy headteacher in the same school.
Once my own children were both in school, I decided I was ready to take the next step into school leadership and became co-head at Lansdowne before becoming Principal of Horninglow Primary. I’m very proud to be Principal at Horninglow and love my job because I believe I can make a positive difference and support children to achieve their full potential. I aim to ensure that the Trust Values: Work hard, be kind and choose wisely are lived by all who work and learn at our school.
