Trust Finance Manager

AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting

“Working in education is very fulfilling. I love that as a Trust, we work together as one big team and each member of staff – whether they are teaching staff or support staff - does their own bit to contribute to the education that the children within our schools receive”

I was raised in South Derbyshire and moved to Burton on Trent after completing my A-Levels. I knew from school that I enjoyed maths and working with numbers and wanted to work in Finance. Once I had completed my A-Levels, I took on my first full time job working for The Derbyshire Building Society as a cashier in one of their branches and progressed to roles in their Investment Processing Team at their Head Office based in Duffield.

Following the closure of The Derbyshire, I moved to Burton and South Derbyshire College where I worked for 10 years. I took on various administrative roles, which all included financial tasks. Whilst working at the College, I gained AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting and AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting. I really enjoyed working within the education sector but decided that I wanted a role that was predominantly finance based.

In 2021 I left the College to become a Finance Officer for the Trust. I have recently completed AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting and am now a Trust Finance Manager. Although I am based in Finance and do not work in the classroom directly with the children, I know that what I do within my role affects the surroundings that the children are in and the education that they receive.
