Rebecca Upton

Executive Assistant to the Trust Executive Team

Working for the Trust is inspiring and rewarding. I truly enjoy working with a team of passionate individuals who want the best for the students within our Trust.”

I attended both Horninglow Infants (now Primary) and The de Ferrers Academy as a student. I began doing voluntary work at Horninglow Primary as a teenager, working alongside my Mum on the PTA and also visiting weekly to read with the children.

I worked in the hospitality industry from the age of 18 for 8 years. This began with ironing uniform and polishing cutlery for race days at Uttoxeter Racecourse, and ended at the age of 26 when I was Bar and Restaurant Manager for a country pub. I developed many skills over those years, the most important being my communication skills.

I took the opportunity to begin my professional career in the Education sector by joining Horninglow Primary as their Office Assistant in 2020, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Building relationships with parents and students was very important to me and I thrived in that role. When a temporary position to join the The de Ferrers Trust Central Team in their Finance Team arose, I jumped at the opportunity in hopes to progress my career. Once this temporary role came to an end, the opportunity arose for me to stay on at the Trust as Executive Assistant to the Trust Executive Team.

This role brings something new everyday. I get to assist, not just the Executive Team, but the whole Trust and it is very rewarding. I am responsible for arranging the Trust Student Leadership Team and it has been brilliant to work alongside them to discuss ways in which we can bring changes to the Trust.

Working for The Trust is inspiring and rewarding. I truly enjoy working with a team of passionate individuals who want the best for the students within our Trust.

I am currently doing an apprenticeship with the Trust in Business Administration Level 3.

In my spare time I enjoy going to the gym, reading a good book, and finding any source of live music!
