The Pingle Academy is a part of The de Ferrers Trust. We are a Multi Academy Trust currently based in Staffordshire and Derbyshire. We consist of 3 Secondary Academies and 4 Primary Academies.

The Pingle Academy is a co-educational, comprehensive, secondary school for students aged 11-18 years.  It is situated on a large secure site at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. We benefit from a wide range of specialist facilities, including a floodlit astro-turf area, Learning Support Base, Autism Resource Centre and a purpose built Sixth Form Centre.

The Candidate

We are looking for a hardworking, ambitious, and dynamic Design & Technology Technician to join The Pingle Academy. You will be a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about Design and Technology who can use their skills and experience to help our students succeed. 

This post offers a varied and rewarding role within the academy, providing technical support/expertise to the Technology Faculty.

You will support teaching and learning by:

  • Preparation of materials to exact specification. This entails the use of metal cutting, milling, turning machines and wood conversion machines (planer/thicknesser, circular saw and bandsaw).
  • Assisting teaching staff with demonstrations and the development of lessons and practical’s.
  • Ensure health and safety is being adhered to by coordinating the maintenance, inspection and cleaning of equipment including all machinery and tools.

You should have experience of working in an appropriate technology or workshop environment and know how to operate and maintain machinery, tools and equipment and possess a working knowledge of health and safety requirements. You will mainly be working with wood and metal.
