The de Ferrers Academy

The de Ferrers Academy is a part of The de Ferrers Trust. We are a Multi Academy Trust currently based in Staffordshire and Derbyshire. We consist of 3 Secondary Academies and 4 Primary Academies.
Following on from 10 years as a specialist Technology College, de Ferrers became an Academy in January 2011. It has grown into a large, split-site, co-educational institution catering for the full range of students from ages 11-18. In 2015 de Ferrers became the first school of The de Ferrers Trust (a Multi Academy Trust).
Our vision is to ensure that all the children and young people in our care have the opportunity to fulfil their potential through achieving highly, regardless of their ability or background.

The Candidate
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and motivated Mathematics teacher with an infectious passion for the subject, to join us at The de Ferrers Academy. This is an exciting opportunity for you to create innovative and exciting learning opportunities for our students.
You must be confident in the delivery of Mathematics and have the ambition and dedication to continue to develop the curriculum in line with current practice and research in effective teaching.
You will be able to support in the promotion of excellent standards of student learning, achievement, progress, attainment and behaviour through working effectively and collaboratively. You will be passionate about your specialist subject and seek to positively impact your field and the Academy.
The Faculty
The Maths faculty consists of 15 expert Maths teachers, the vast majority of which trained at de Ferrers. There is a clear, centrally resourced curriculum in place for all year groups. Across Y7-11 we use Sparx Maths for homework, which enables our students to make high levels of progress whilst keeping staff workload low.
GCSE outcomes have been consistently strong, with our students achieving a progress score of +0.72 in 2022; the highest in the region. We also offer Level 2 Further Maths to help our highest achieving students prepare for A Level Maths.
At KS5, we have a sizeable A Level Maths cohort of 70 students and our students continue to achieve excellent outcomes (77% A*-B in 2022). We also offer Further Maths at A Level, providing lots of opportunities to teach a variety of mathematical content.
