The Pingle Academy
Location: Coronation Street, Swadlincote, Derbyshire, DE11 0QA
The Pingle Academy is an 11-19 co-educational, comprehensive school, became an academy in May 2017 and joined The de Ferrers Trust. Our over subscribed academy is the academy of choice in the local area and enjoys an excellent local reputation.
We are proud of our caring and inclusive community, and our values of WORK HARD, BE KIND, CHOOSE WISELY are present in all aspects of academy life.
Our academy is a community where there is a shared responsibility for creating a safe and pleasant place to work. Staff are dedicated in ensuring that The Pingle Academy is inclusive in all areas and we are proud of our efforts to educate and care for all our students, whatever their abilities to ensure that every students’ potential is fulfilled.
In 2019, the academy enjoyed its best ever results, both at GCSE and A Level. In October 2021 OFSTED judged the academy as GOOD in all areas.
Our priority is to help parents/carers prepare their children for adult lives in a rapidly changing world. We aim to provide a broad and stimulating curriculum, to set the highest standards of work and behaviour and to encourage students to aspire to these standards with confidence.
We value our staff, ensuring that we look after and care for their wellbeing through professional development, mental health provision and supporting staff with their workload.
The Pingle Academy has an oversubscribed and expanding Sixth Form with 230 students enrolled for September 2022. As an Academy we were in the top 25% of schools nationally for KS4 progress and in the top 5% of schools nationally for KS5 progress (2019).
We can offer a caring and supportive working environment, and professional development of a high standard. We take our staff well-being seriously and offer activities, like team sports, a fitness suite and swimming pool as well as staff pub quizzes and coffee and cake afternoons.
Our Sixth Form currently has two Sixth Form Mentors: one supporting students in Humanities and Social Studies based A Levels and the other coaching students with Sciences and Maths. We would welcome applications from candidates who have a background in Humanities, English or Social Studies.
The Pingle Academy is looking to appoint a permanent, outstanding Learning Mentor educated to degree level to support our Sixth Form Team with the academic progress and pastoral work in Key Stage 5.
We are looking for a passionate person with excellent communication skills and a desire to make a difference to the academic outcomes of our young people as they prepare for the wider world of university, college, work and life. Applications are sought from high calibre professionals who have the skills and talent to support our academy.
