Tom Riley

Trust Leader for Mathematics (Secondary)

BSc (Hons.) in Economics, University of Sheffield / Postgraduate Certificate in Education, Mathematics, University of Wolverhampton

“I love how hard our students work across the Trust and the joy of watching our students become successful Mathematicians as they complete their journey through secondary school. In Mathematics, practice is the key to success and our students work hard to be successful.”

I am originally from Derby and went to school in Staffordshire. I have worked at The de Ferrers Academy for just over 10 years as a teacher of Mathematics (and occasionally Economics). I particularly enjoy the problem-solving aspect of Mathematics and the level of academic rigour the subject requires. For me, teaching Mathematics is about making all students successful and allowing them to access an academically rigorous curriculum.

Personal interests include cycling and running. I'm also ranked as the 888th greatest fantasy football player of all time.
