Granville Academy joined The de Ferrers Trust in 2017. We are a Multi Academy Trust currently based in Staffordshire and Derbyshire. We consist of 3 Secondary Academies and 4 Primary Academies.

Here, at Granville Academy, we are on a truly exciting journey of improving standards and outcomes in our pursuit of excellence. We are already seeing results with good behaviour recognised in our recent Ofsted report.

Good behaviour provides the foundations for high quality teaching and learning to thrive. It allows teachers to focus on their craft and to teach well. High quality teaching is sacrosanct and is the absolute focus of our next chapter ensuring that great teaching impacts positively on the outcomes of all within our care.

Support staff play a key and vital role in supporting the academy in achieving good outcomes through robust and effective pastoral care. This role is critical in ensuring outcomes are supported via good attendance and full access to the curriculum content so that young people in our care have every opportunity to fulfil their potential and move on to successful destinations and rewarding careers.

Our visitors tell us that our academy offers them a warm welcome with a calm atmosphere conducive to high quality teaching and learning. We are a passionate and committed group of staff who support each other to be the best that we can be.

Our vision is to ensure that all the children and young people in our care have the opportunity to fulfil their potential through achieving highly, regardless of their ability or background.

At Granville Academy we believe in working hard, being kind and choosing wisely. We are privileged to work in a community where we have a positive impact on children’s lives and future every day.

The Candidate

We are looking to appoint a highly effective and motivated Assistant SENCO, who will work in partnership with the SENCO and Assistant SENCO who are both full time teachers. This non teaching role is designed to add capacity, to support and effectively contribute to the SEND provision across the academy.

The successful candidate will work with all stakeholders to ensure that children with additional needs, vulnerabilities, or barriers to learning receive the support they need to learn, progress successfully and maximise their potential.

You will be well organised and willing to go the ‘extra mile’. You will be able to build positive, supportive relationships with staff and students to ensure that teachers are well informed and able to build upon the specific interventions led by the SEND team to maximise learning within the classroom thus ensuring that the separation effect does not impact negatively upon student opportunities and progress.

You will champion students who need additional support and play a vital role as a direct contact to allocated parents. You will have experience and a working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and experience of working with students academically and or pastorally.

The ideal candidate will possess the drive and passion to develop themselves professionally with the SEND arena and undertake CPD opportunities to cultivate their SEND knowledge and practice.
