We believe that The de Ferrers Academy and Trust is a very special place to work. We have fantastic facilities and a truly supportive and skilled staff at all levels. We also believe that to get the best out of our students we need to be the best we can be as staff. We take great pride in ensuring that we all support and develop ourselves and our teams. We offer a fantastic range of staff wellbeing (Physical, Social and Emotional) and CPD opportunities at local, Trust and National levels.
Our students are a strength too. They want to learn and make the most of the opportunities on offer to them. They too take great pride in showcasing what is good about being a part of DFA.
The Mathematics Faculty is a high performing team who have high expectations of what all students can achieve. It has been a very stable faculty over the last few years with the new vacancy arising as a result of a promotion. The excellent camaraderie amongst staff, as well as the hard work of the students, has helped our students achieve considerable success. GCSE Exam results have been consistently strong in recent years, with a Progress 8 score regularly above 0.4 and results often exceeding 80% 9 – 4, whilst KS5 results continue to improve.
The Faculty, with 16 qualified mathematics teachers, is at the centre of innovative practices at the Academy. The curriculum is designed using many principles gleaned from Cognitive Science; whilst an evidence-based approach is used to determine teaching methods where possible.
Every classroom is equipped with a Promethean interactive whiteboard and all staff as well as students in Years 10 to 13 have their own iPad. In April 2016, for KS4 and 5, the Mathematics Faculty moved into a new, purpose built block in readiness for the new Mathematics curricula. This is a fantastic facility for teaching and learning and the home to many great discussions about how best to teach Mathematics.
The successful candidates will be highly qualified and be able to support in the promotion of excellent standards of student learning, achievement, progress, attainment and behaviour through working effectively and collaboratively. They will be passionate about their specialist subject and seek to positively impact their field and Academy.
The Trust believes that professional development is key to successful teaching and offers excellent opportunities for colleagues to grow and achieve.
